The seafront promenade is long, level and smooth — perfect for wheelchairs and scooters — running past the bandstand, the gardens and the iconic clock tower towards Neptune's Jetty. There are accessible bays along the front, level-access cafés, and the pier's flat deck gives brilliant views back across the bay.

Coastal favourites

Whitstable, ten minutes along the coast, pairs its working harbour with level harbourside paths and famous seafood. Margate offers a flat seafront, the accessible Turner Contemporary gallery (free entry, step-free throughout) and the restored Dreamland. Broadstairs' Viking Bay has a lift down to the sand in season, and Folkestone's Harbour Arm has been regenerated with accessibility in mind.

History and gardens

Canterbury Cathedral has step-free routes through most of the precincts and nave. Dover Castle's grounds are steep in places but the key exhibitions have level access and accessible transport runs around the site. For gardens, Mount Ephraim near Faversham and the National Trust's Sissinghurst offer accessible routes and mobility vehicle loans — check ahead for seasonal availability.
